The National Federation of Independent
BusinessThe National Federation of Independent Business differs from other business associations in two vital ways. Firstly, direct polling and surveys among the overall membership, not committees or boards, determine the issues and policies.
Secondly, to prevent any undue influence by any group of members, subscriptions are capped and donations do not carry any increased voting power. All members have equal rights.
NFIB speaks to federal, state - territory and local government officials on a regular basis. However, it is the members themselves who set the policy agenda and establish NFIB's position on all relevant issues.
TO DO THESE THINGS WE NEED CLOUT WITH NUMBERS
CLOUT
-Members can influence public policy at all levels of government. Members set NFIB policies and priorities through the mandate ballot, special surveys and face-to-face interviews. As a "watch dog", NFIB fights abuse of power by governments, monopolies, trade associations, large unions and corporations.FINANCIAL - Members help bring about beneficial laws that strengthen their enterprises and their competitiveness.
INTERNET SERVICES - A package of Internet service provisions and listing of member companies, with option for advertising on members own web page.
SHARED VALUES - Members join forces with other business owners across Australia who share their belief in free markets, entrepeneurship, and a healthy small business community.
OMBUDSMAN - Members receive advice and support in dealing with governments, and assistance in cutting through red tape and bureaucracy.
HOPE - Members know that no matter difficult circumstances may be, that they are part of an organisation that has the federation motto "we never give up and we never go away". This provides business owners with hope for a better future for themselves and their families.
